Grand Canyon Day 6 (August 9th)

This was another hot day on the river!

 IT wasn't always calm waters!

Our major stop for the day was at Kanab Creek, where we took another hike to a beautiful turquoise blue oasis.

Some of the group stayed here, while others walked on to another series of pools.

A view from above. This shows the mouth of the canyon, where Kanab Creek meets the Colorado. The blue-green water was such a welcome sight, and this picture really shows how dramatic the difference was.

Fern Glen Campground at mile 168.5 after a 28 mile day on the river.

One of the most wonderful things about a truly remarkable trip was being able to relax and catch up with so much of the family. This trip was not only a gift of beauty and a chance to see some of the more remote and inaccessible parts of the U.S., it was a gift of time and an opportunity to really enjoy the good people sharing the journey.
Listening to Lori read a nice story that her husband wrote about his time on the river.
