Grand Canyon day 5 (August 8th)-- this was a busy day!

Day 5 August 8
Early in the day we had our first stop at this magical place called Elves Chasm:

This was a beautiful, short walk from the river, basically walking up through a small stream. Everyone got in and swam here, even though the water was really cold, and some even decided to jump from the waterfall into the pool below.

What a hot day on the river! We definitely knew we were in the Mojave desert, and our stops and the water from rapids was very welcome!

Our second big stop of the day was at Deer Creek Canyon where there was this incredible waterfall really close to the river:

We split up here, and some people decided to hang out and enjoy this spot. A few of us decided to walk up through Deer Creek Canyon to see some pretty amazing views.

The cavern was incredibly deep, not a good place for someone with an issue with heights for sure!
And at the end of the hike we got to this lovely spot.

Keyhole Campground at mile 140.5 after 32 miles on the river.

Our bathroom with a view. I will leave it to your imagination whether or not rafts might go by as we used it!
