Monuments

Over their spring break the boys and I took a (very long!) walk with a few friends to visit some of the most iconic Washington monuments.  The cherry blossoms were just past their peak, and it was a breezy spring day.  The wind was knocking blossoms off the trees at a very steady pace, so steady in fact that it looked like it was snowing pinkish white snow!

The boys with the Declaration of Independence.

At the FDR memorial, Ryan liked the statue of Roosevelt's dog Fala.

Also at the FDR memorial.

The boys both wanted pictures "holding" the Washington Monument.

Our walk was a little over 4 miles, and I should note that they boys ran up the steps of the Lincoln Memorial (our last stop) just as fast as the Jefferson Memorial (our first)!  By the end of the day we had visited the Thomas Jefferson Memorial, FDR Memorial, MLK Memorial, DC War Memorial, WWII Memorial, Washington Monument, Korean War Veterans Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial.
