We celebrated Ryan's birthday with lots of friends from school at Arty's Play Park. This is a lovely place, with ziplines, swings, climbing structures, grassy areas to run around in and lots of shady spaces too. The kids played games, ate snacks, lunch and cake, and everyone had a great time. The adults sat in the shade chatting, and watching the kids run around... it was a HOT day!
Conor helping out on the zipline...
He is SUCH a great big brother!
Ryan couldn't be a sweeter kid. His friend Charlie has a broken leg and can't run around and play. When we invited Charlie to the party Ryan's first thought was that we needed to bring some toys and games that Charlie could play with. When Charlie got to the party Ryan stopped playing in the park and sat down to play with him. Conor took over after a while and Ryan even got a few other friends to sit down for a bit. Charlie's Mom wrote to us afterwards to say this was the most fun Charlie has had since he broke his leg and to thank us for thinking of him. I have to say though, it was all Ryan's idea and he really followed through!
CAKE!!!
Ryan got this kit that had gems inside a stone that you need to slowly dig out. Conor and Ryan had a great time working on this together, they spent hours digging away. I thought it was cool, but wouldn't have guessed how interested they both would be in doing this activity. It's great when we find things that they can work so well together on.
Ryan's actual birthday morning, opening presents from the family. His favourite has to be the remote controlled Lamborghini! The walkie talkies are a close second though.
Ryan with a very special cake that Mrs. Betty bought for him.
Happy 5th birthday Ryan!
