11+ results night

In Barbados, all children leaving elementary school for secondary school must sit for an exam called the 11+ exam.  This test determines what school you can get into, so at the tender age of 11, or in some cases 10, you are placed in a school that is considered appropriate for your academic level.  It seems crazy to me, but as you enter the 6th grade you are either on a track to attend college or not, depending on how you perform on one test, on one day.
As expected, Conor did exceptionally well, and he was admitted to the highest school in Barbados.  (Some lucky child who only got onto the waiting list for Harrison's College is going to get some great news in the late summer when Conor doesn't complete his admissions paperwork!)  Congratulations Conor on a job well done, and on applying yourself to the task of learning how to study for and take a big test.  Even though the results of this test don't really matter to you or to your future these skills will serve you well throughout your life.
To celebrate the results Conor chose to go out to sushi (what else?) so we had probably our last family dinner at Naru.  Great sushi, seafront seating and a perfect sunset... life is good.

Ryan and I took a quick walk along the board walk while we waited for dinner.

Greg is looking over a list of possible names for our new house in Big Bear, Conor is reading a National Geographic kids magazine and Ryan is doing a dot-to-dot book.

Happy family!
