A few days in the land of The Sound of Music
Still trying to catch up a bit with pictures from our time so far in Austria, this trip was actually in fall of 2018. Our trip to Saltzburg was our first real touristy trip away from Vienna, and we had a great time discovering this beautiful city.In order to get a nice overview of the city we took the wonderful Fräulein Maria bicycle tour. This tour took us all over the city and was such a nice way to enjoy the sights.
St Peter's Cemetery where the scene with the family hiding from the Nazi guards was filmed. It isn't actually connected to the Abbey.
A couple of views from the Hohensalzburg fortress.
Different houses were used in the film for the Von Trapp family home. This is the residence that was used for the scenes on the balcony and when the kids come in from their day out on the boat.
Residence Square fountain where Maria stops for a bit to sing part of her Confidence song.
A couple of views from Nonnburg Abbey where Fräulein Maria was a postulant. I didn't get any pictures of the Abbey itself, but it was interesting to learn that it was founded in the mid 700s and has been in continual operation since then.
Walking into the old town from our BnB. The Hohensalzburg fortress is the backdrop to the city from every angle.
A restaurant within the walls of the old city.
