Switzerland

After our second year in India, we got away to Switzerland for a short visit on our way home for the summer.  Switzerland was beautiful and clean and organized and expensive, and we had a great time!
Ryan was trying to take a selfie when we turned it into a family photo bomb. Behind us is one of many clock towers in Zurich, but this one holds the record for the "largest clock face" of any clocktower.

One of the boys' favorite places in Zurich was this park by the lake where we returned many times. It was a short walk from our flat, and provided a nice place to run around.

Where else can you climb a giant piece of cheese?

A stop on our drive in the Swiss countryside, this little town was a wonderful place to take a stroll.

This poor lion, carved into the side of a granite cliff, is a monument to the Swiss guards who were killed during the French Revolution. Mark Twain called it "the most mournful and moving piece of stone in the world."

Taking a chairlift up to the alps

We passed over pastures

... and eventually passed over snowy, mountains

... with more and more snow and quite a few clouds

and eventually got to play in the snow!

After riding down the hills, we were assisted coming back up by these cool moving walkways.

We did this quite a few times!  This was probably the coldest I have ever been in June, and it was especially notable because we had only left the 114 degree New Delhi weather three days before!

One of the best things about Zurich was enjoying the public fountains you could find absolutely everywhere with water continuously flowing fresh from the alps.

Back at the park again... it was the last thing the boys wanted to do before heading out to the airport!
