Summer in California (finally!)

As has been the case the past couple of years, I was horrible about taking pictures while we were home for the summer. We were able to travel around quite a bit and catch up with lots of family, but I don't have much photographic evidence to back up that assertion! What follows are the few pictures I did take... and hopefully next year I will do better.

The title of this posting is "California" and yet the first thing we did when we landed was drive to Nevada! Thanks to Grandpa Wil for flying out to meet us there to spend some time with the boys.

Aunt Patty provided the project as a perfect late Christmas present, and the boys spent some quality construction time in Big Bear creating a table foosball game!

Ryan, Conor and I took a hike to Castle Rock to see the amazing views of the lake. Ry was a bit nervous at first climbing around on the rocks, but Conor was there to support him.

Ry looking so cool in Conor's glasses he felt compelled to take a selfie!

And of course we spent quite a bit of time at the Big Bear mini-golf course!

Conor went to Stanford again for a 3 week course, but this time Ryan got to go with me to drop him off and experience a little bit of what Conor is up to when he isn't with us.

This year Conor stayed in a smaller group house (last year it was a more traditional dorm) with just the 24 kids in the Mathematics and Science classes. Here they are getting to know each other playing some frisbee in the yard.

Ryan's obligatory picture on the blue whale at the Lawrence Hall of Science.

Ryan and I were so happy to get to go down to San Diego to visit Nancy, and spending time in her beautiful backyard was a bonus!  Just before sunset the hot air balloons took off from just in the valley below her house and Ryan was fascinated watching them.

In Nancy's yard.

Thanks to Nancy for snapping this pick of Ryan and me at Quail Gardens.

And far too soon the summer was over.  The boys don't look too unhappy to finally be heading back to see Dad (and Scout)!
