Tree Top Walk at MacRitchie Resevoir

The MacRitchie reservoir is Singapore's oldest reservoir, and it is surrounded by protected primary and secondary forests that have acted as a water catchment reserve for over a century called the Central Catchment Nature Reserve. Throughout the Central Catchment area are wonderful trails and nature walks that make up a 20 kilometer network. The trails are a combination of boardwalks and dirt paths, and they loop and meander through the dense forest providing great options for a number of walks.  We chose to take one that would bring us by the Tree Top Walk, a suspension bridge that opened in 2004 which connects the two highest points in the Central Catchment Reserve.  The 240 meter long bridge offered amazing views of the forest from above and among the trees, and it was a fun and exciting experience for all of us!

As you approach the Tree Top Walk there is a guard booth. Signs warn that this is a one way trip, and that if you don't think you want to go across you should turn around now! Also, it closes at sun down, so the last people are let through about 15 minutes prior to that time and the gate on this side is locked.

Just as we were setting off, a nice lady took a rare non-selfie picture of us all.
The view from the bridge was amazing!

Last family selfie on the bridge!

Some of us were happier than others on the walk back!

Have I mentioned how hot it is in Singapore?

After a little break and a lot of water...

And a little help from Dad...

We all made it back in one piece!

We had intended to walk between 8 and 9 kilometers, but in total we ended up walking 10.5.  When we got to the trail head, we couldn't catch a cab as we planned and had to walk back up to town.  The up side is we ended up finding an old fashioned Swanson's ice cream parlor and treated ourselves to lunch and sundaes all around.  This was another great day in Singapore, but it was our last day. After our outing we went back to the house, cleaned up, and went to the Singapore Airport for dinner. While I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to have dinner at many airports, the Singapore Airport is a lovely place to spend a few hours!
