Ryan is a Cub Scout! We haven't been posted somewhere with an active boy scouting community, so this is a new opportunity for us and Ryan has jumped right in, earning badges and winning ribbons just as fast as he can. His first outing with the group was an overnight camp out at an exotic location... his school grounds! It was a really fun night, with lots of great activities including building their own shelter out of bamboo, rope and plastic tarp. They didn't actually have to sleep under their shelters, although quite a few kids opted to. Ryan decided to sleep in a real tent with Conor and Greg (I slept at home in my own bed!) and I know that he got quite a bit more sleep than most of the campers because of that decision. They built a campfire, made smores and watched a movie (Up), and the whole thing was catered by the school cafeteria staff. This is some crazy scouting! The next day they broke down their shelters and used the bamboo and rope to build a tower to see how high they could make it.

The rest of the scouting groups working away.
The kids in the structure... Ryan decided there wasn't enough room for all of them to sleep.
(Wise decision!)
The tower in all its glory!
