A few pictures from our first Thanksgiving in New Delhi.
I don't quite know how this could have happened, but somehow I haven't ever made a true Thanksgiving meal all by myself. Before we joined the Foreign Service we always went home for Thanksgiving, so although I helped out, I was much more involved in things like pie making or bread making than the actual turkey itself. In Shanghai there was a lovely grocery store that made it all for us, packaged it up nicely and delivered it to our door... I wasn't going to say no to that! In Barbados we couldn't get turkeys, or if we could they were suspect, so we just had the biggest chicken I could find. But here in Delhi, the commissary brought turkeys in especially for us, and I found I really didn't have any excuse not to go for it. Thankfully I had plenty of wonderful recipes to work from, and a few days of preparation time, and everything turned out great!
I was so happy to find cranberries I made two different types of cranberry sauce.
preparations which involved lots of chopping!
Ryan was such a huge helper this year, especially with the apple pie. Here he is rolling out the dough for the crust...
and rolling...
and rolling!
Success!
And showing off his floury shirt!
Our friends, the Schwefflers, also celebrating their first Thanksgiving in India!
