Dominica part 2

My first posting from Dominica focused solely on the beautiful Rosalie Bay Resort but we didn't spend the entire trip there, so here are some pictures from around the island!
Greg, Conor and Jim took a hike through the rainforest to the Sari Sari River Falls.  It wasn't made entirely clear prior to the hike that part of the trail they would have to take would be actually up the river itself, through water that reached Conor's chest!

Greg claims that the views from the top were well worth the hike, but he didn't take any pictures to prove it.  On top of wetness from hiking through a river, they also got a bit of rain during their hike.  Part of what makes Dominica so green and beautiful is the fact that their mountainsides get 350 inches of rain a year, and that rain make its way back to the ocean via 365 different rivers and streams.  The difference between hiking on a day with rain and hiking on a day without can be a river that is up to your knees verses a river that is over your head!  This is why you always hike with a local guide!

The view from the top of Jack's Walk overlooking down town Roseau, the capitol of Dominica.

A bus that has been left where it was last parked just before hurricane David (1979).

An aptly named "cannon ball tree" in a park in Roseau.

Kate, Conor and Jim entering a fort made from bamboo.

The family at falls near the Papillote Resort.
