Ryan is talking so much more these days, and talking with him is always a hoot. At dinner this evening I was reading a book with him to pass the time while we waited for our food. One page had ten chicks on in, so I asked him to count them with me.
Me "want to count the chicks?"
Ryan "OK"
Together "one, two, three...
Ryan "four, eight, nine, ten, I win!"
Me "the point was to count them correctly, not to get to ten first"
Ryan "oooh"..."why?"
Ryan playing with his tea set
Ryan "mom, want some tea I am making for you?
Me "thank you so much, are you going to have some too?"
Ryan "no, tea isn't good for me"
Me "true, but this is pretend tea. You can have some if you want."
Ryan "ok" he pours some imaginary tea into a cup and takes a sip, then dramatically spits it out and wipes his mouth... "that's yucky mama, why do you drink it?"
Me (laughing) "well if you don't want tea, why don't you pour yourself some nice lemonade?"
Ryan "that's a good idea" he pours the lemonade and takes a sip "ahhh, that's so much better!"
Ryan is also starting to make up stories, usually about a little boy who is doing something fun with his family. I love that they almost always start with "One fine day..."
