Conor's class field trip

Last week I went with Conor's class on a walk around the neighborhood by their school. It was really amazing how much we could see just walking for about an hour. In addition to seeing a fire station, bank, home for the elderly, police station, courthouse, schools, post office, and tons of apartments, restaurants and shops, we saw people doing odd jobs on the streets. Three women with sewing machines set up doing tailoring. A man making mops out of used clothing and sheets. A "fix it" man slowly riding his bike with a big tool box in the back blaring music to let everyone know he was going by and giving them a chance to call out for him if they needed anything fixed.
We also saw a construction site for a new subway station. You can't throw a stone in Shanghai without hitting a construction site!

We all enjoyed the walk very much, and had lots to talk about when we got back to the school.

Here are some pictures from the walk... enjoy!

Ms. Cunningham leading the way... and stopping to talk a little bit about the home for the elderly.

Talking about the preschool... and about the bun shop selling dumplings.
