We took advantage of having visitors here over the boys' winter break and we got out of Delhi for a bit. Our destination was Corbett National Park, where we could take some jeep safaris, spot some birds and deer, and where there was a possibility we could spot a tiger or wild elephants. Greg had been there before, but it was a first for the boys and me and it was so nice to be able to discover it with family.
Corbett National Park is located in Uttarakhand, about a 7 hour drive away from Delhi. It is the oldest of the National Parks in India spanning over 130,000 acres, and was established in 1936. It was also the first park to protect tigers in India, and is a center for "Project Tiger" the Indian Tiger conservation program.
Our first morning out was rainy and cold, and we didn't see all that much on the Safari. The park was beautiful, and it was nice to be out in the fresh, clean air, but we all just huddled together to conserve our warmth a bit like this:
Although, really this baby looks more comfortable than I felt
Even though we were cold, we were happy!
The next day the sun was out and our safari was in the afternoon, so we were much more comfortable!

pretty Red-Whiskered Bulbul
looks like Ryan and Greg spotted a wild Sarah!
Not a bad way to spend a day!
Jeep Selfie!
Asian Pied Starling
White-Throated Kingfisher
bee hives
Black Stork
Kalij Pheasant
You need a really steady hand to get these great bird photos!
We stopped here and one other place for quite a while listening for sounds that would indicate a tiger was nearby. Once or twice it seemed like we were close, and our guide thought they had the trail, but nothing came of it.
One of my new favorites, the Long-Tailed Shrike
Black Shouldered Kite-- his eyes were a crazy red.
Rufous Treepie taking a ride.
