When President and Mrs. Obama came to visit, the embassy arranged for a nice "meet and greet" event for families. These are some of the pictures of the Obamas with just the kids from the embassy. In the second one Mrs. Obama is clearly saying something to Ryan, but he doesn't remember what she said. I hope he responded to her!
These were two pictures Conor sent to me from his phone while they were waiting for the president to arrive. All of the kids had to be in their places for over an hour prior to the arrival, and some of them got a little crazy while they were waiting!

I volunteered to help get the kids into place, and the result was that there was no way I could get anywhere near the president myself. Not only did I have to get there early, with the first wave of people, I had to then be responsible for watching kids who's parents just dropped them off with me, while those same parents went to the front of the room and stood holding their positions.
This is as close as I got!
And this is the best picture I could get. Mrs. Obama's dress was beautiful. They were both dressed for the state dinner that they were running to after this quick meeting.
