Big Bear and Lancaster

We spent about a month in southern California this summer split between our cabin in Big Bear and my parent's house in Lancaster.  Some of the time in Lancaster was spent like this:

where the boys both developed an appreciation for the fine art of puzzle-ing.

While in Big Bear Conor and Ryan took part in a week long golf camp at the Big Bear Golf Club just down the hill from our house.  They made a few friends and the culminating event was a day spent doing 8 of the 9 holes on the course.  They skipped one hole because the first 100 yards are over water and the coaches didn't want to lose 10 balls!  Here are some pictures of the kids coming up to the last hole of the day.

Dinner out on the deck: barbeque sausage, lime-aid slushies, chips and an amazing view!

The boys loved hanging out at the cabin this summer, and we has so much fun exploring.  All over our property we saw signs of new life, like these acorns bursting forth...

a bunny that liked to hang out in the shade under our oak trees...

And this baby hawk or eagle nesting in our front yard!  This nest was so high up the kids couldn't see the bird, but I climbed the tree next to this one and went out on a limb (literally) to get these pictures so Conor and Ryan could see this little guy.

While in Lancaster the boys spent some quality time with Aunt Patty, and they really enjoyed creating some amazing marble tracks.  Conor sure is good at testing the limits of given equipment!
