Last weekend we took advantage of the wonderful weather and got the family out for a hike around the Manassas battlefield. We didn't get too much into the history of the site, although the kids enjoyed seeing the old houses and family cemetery that have been preserved and the cannons sitting out in open fields. Mostly we were there for the hiking and we completed a 5 mile loop. Ryan had a bit of trouble after a while so Greg and I took turns carrying him through the roughest bits. Unfortunately, even though the weather was wonderful, we didn't quite allow enough time after the snow melt and it was a VERY muddy walk. We persevered, however, and after a good boot washing and showers for everyone we were no worse for the adventure!
