Christmas in Big Bear

This year we travelled to California for Christmas and were so fortunate to spend time with family and also get to use our new cabin in Big Bear.  My sisters Sue and Nancy both rented cabins near ours and brought their families up for a long weekend and we all had such a wonderful time!
Rim of the World Drive
The drive up the San Bernardino mountains is always beautiful, but this time we rose above the cloud layer and the view was unreal.  We didn't have much snow, but the cloud cover was like a puffy snow covered ocean covering the entire valley.  The picture on the right is the view you usually see along this road, just for comparison!
How does he sit like that?

When we got into town, our first order of business was purchasing and decorating a tree.  We had a fire in the fireplace, stockings hanging from the mantle, and two boys who got to open one present each on Christmas eve night... I think they were pretty happy about that!

Christmas morning brought stockings and more presents.  I don't remember what Ryan was opening in this first picture, but it must have been good!
A few days after Christmas, Greg had to go back to Virginia for training, but the boys and I travelled down to Mom and Dad's house in Lancaster to spend time with even more family.  On the first day John and his family where there and lots of fun was had by all...

And the next day Amy and her family arrived, so the fun continued!
Ryan and Corina played countless games of tick-tac-toe on this set which has been around forever.

Ryan had so much fun he wore himself out each day. One night Conor came downstairs to tell me there was something I really, really had to see up in our bedroom "Ryan fell asleep in his suitcase!"  Well, not exactly, but he must have been absolutely exhausted to fall asleep like that.
5 am at the airport waiting for bags so we could meet Greg and go home... does Ryan ever stop smiling?
