A trip to the fabric market

Some friends and I went down to the fabric market a few weeks ago and ordered some wool coats to be made. It was really interesting looking through the fabric, seeing the different coats that different tailors had made as well as catalogs of coats, and choosing something to be made. I chose one from a sample and one from a catalog and we went back last week to pick our things up. This is a sign from the stall I bought one of my jackets from:

And here are pictures of my coats. I am really happy with them, and will be going back, and plan to try having some dress shirts made as well. The wool I chose is really soft, and they have a nice feel to them. Each one cost about US $45, and I think that is quite a bargain! You definitely have to just get past the fact that they want you to believe everything is "genuine cashmere" and just pick the material you like the best, whatever it is. I also bought some really nice "pashmina" scarves, some leather gloves and a super soft blanket. All in all, it was quite a successful China shopping experience!
